Ceramic

A product manufactured by the action of heat on earthy raw materials, in which the element silicon with its oxides and silicates occupy a predominant position. It includes pottery, glass, bricks and tiles, dinnerware, porcelain, spark plug bodies, abrasive materials, even plaster and the cement used in concrete. The list is enormous. The hobby called ceramics is actually only a very small part of the small part of ceramics called pottery. In this site, as in most literature, ceramic has been given its broadest meaning.
