Termination of Cookingglass site.
It is planned to shut down the site when the current hosting contract expires in April 2012; or earlier should a fault occur which requires costly repair.
The site was set up as a resource for glass artists and hobbyists and to fill some of the gaps in available literature about both glass and the equipment used in its manipulation.
The five figure cost of constructing and populating the site was paid by me and it was hoped that the not inconsiderable yearly hosting and internet costs would be met by a once-off contribution from users for access to advanced sections.
Less than 20 people subscribed so the decision was taken to make the entire site open access. Since then many thousands have registered but the site earns no income and I am not prepared to continue to meet its costs.
My very sincere thanks to those who subscribed. Most are prominent in glass circles and known to me and your support reassured me that the site was worthwhile.
