Insulating Fire Brick (IFB)

Low density refractory brick. Formed by aerating refractory material such as kaolin to reduce its density and increase resistance to heat flow. Available in various grades designated by two digit temperature rating in hundreds of degrees F thus, 23 (2300 F) etc.Letter prefix often identifies maker.
